IDEA Lab Kids has been selected to present an educator showcase during the annual 2018 FabLab Symposium taking place in Houston, TX on March 5th. FabLab is a community of 1000+ FabLab’s in the US focusing on educational Makerspaces delivering STEM / STEAM education for K – 12.
In addition to IDEA Lab Kids, several other organizations will be presenting with the keynote speaker Mr. Steven González delivering his presentation called, “NASA – Fabricating Our Way to Mars”IDEA Lab Kids’ very own Director of Innovation, Kristopher Ellis, will provide a workshop for educators from around the country on how to combine some core maker space activities, including simple soldering, Arduino, laser cutting, and programming into an educational experience for your students.
In this workshop, he will walk attendees through a simplified version of an IDEA Lab Musical Pendant Construction class. This project combines, soldering safety, programming Arduino Lillypads and fun Engineering concepts in one lesson which showcases the exclusive IDEA Lab kids delivery methods. The final project of a fun custom designed pendant will play music that will be custom programmed by the participants. The hands-on presentation will demonstrate how to incorporate the Arts into a Coding, Technology and Engineering lesson. A pure STEAM presentation!
IDEA Lab Kids is the coolest invention for kids since sliced bread – and one of the hottest enterprises for children in 2018, according to Entrepreneur Magazine! Through camps, after-school programs, birthday parties, preschool enrichment and more, Idea Lab Kids goes above and beyond by bringing together the principles of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with the world of Arts and Social Sciences (STEAM) to young minds through engaging and creative curriculum. At any of the various classes and camps held throughout the year, kids are immersed in activities ranging from cooking, to drone engineering, to coding and 3D art. The crucial work of research and design development takes place in the Innovation Lab, where cutting-edge technology, such as laser cutting and 3D printing, allows them to stay ahead of the game and construct a unique educative curriculum for a truly fun learning experience.
